Jelly Bean claims 59.1 percent of Android device share as KitKat inches forward

Android is to the masses what cloud computing has become to the new businesses. The Android operating system has captured a large chunk of the operating system market in the world of tablets and smartphones. Since then the competition in the world of mobile operating system is mainly between the different versions of android itself. This year 2014 is the year of the Android devices rapidly growing attention

As a matter of fact Android 4.4 or kitkat is much more user friendly, immersive, artistic and faster compared to the earlier versions of android including jellybean. However, in terms of android device share it lags behind jellybean. In the latest report the jellybean has been seen to capture about 59.1 percent of the mobile operating system market.

Android 4.1 and 4.2 have been codenamed as jellybean. It’s release in 2012 followed the release of version 4.0 codenamed “ice cream sandwich”. The version 4.3 is also known as jellybean.

Jellybean is dynamic

Since its release in early 2012 jellybean has undergone some up gradations such as in jellybean 4.3 which have helped users with enhanced ease of operation and improved overall responsiveness of the system. The interface too has undergone a change. It now supports advanced natural language voice commands available in a host of prevailing handsets. The web browser too has undergone a sea change where you can now have on screen tabs throughout. File management capabilities of the system have also improved a lot.

With the help of all these and coupled with better text input options jellybean has been able to keep pace with the fast changing world of handheld communication devices.

Kitkat is ahead of the market

Till now the use of kitkat is limited to Google handsets such as the nexus phones or the Motorola phones. Being the very latest version shipping of products preloaded with kitkat has not yet kicked in. Moreover, the mass market of smartphones and tablets has not yet received kitkat upgrades.

Jellybean has filled up this void and has been successful in penetrating the mass market. This is mainly the reason behind its 59.1 percent android device share.

Kitkat is going to take over

Kitkat or android 4.4 takes performance of your handset to all time high. It makes optimum use of your phones memory and enhance the user’s touch screen experience by making it respond faster and with more accuracy than any of the earlier versions including jellybean. This particular aspect of the touchscreen lets the user multitask. You can listen to music while hitting the highway with racing cars on screen.

The new immersive mode in kitkat lets the user hide all applications other than the one which he really wants to enjoy. He has to just swipe the edge of the screen to bring back the navigation buttons.

The user is transported to a world of serenity with the new full screen albums that he can view while listening to music in his phone. One of the most interesting updates in the version 4.4/kitkat is that the user need not touch the screen. You just say “OK Google” and kitkat will instantaneously launch voice search, send text or play songs depending on your preferences.

With all these features kitkat is inching forward and sooner than later this pace will turn into a avalanche. In the meantime let jellybean capture 59.1 percent of android device share.
